Best Practices for Maintaining AEON Paint Protection Film (PPF)
Hand washing is highly recommended to protect your AEON PPF.
If using a high-pressure washer, ensure the nozzle stays at least 36 inches (3 feet) away and avoid spraying the edges of the film directly.
Test any wax or aftermarket sealant on a small area before applying it to the PPF. Hydrophobic topcoats on AEON PPF may interfere with wax application.
Do not use abrasive or pigmented waxes or products containing harsh chemicals like naphtha or kerosene.
Remove contaminants (e.g., bird droppings, tar, bug splatter) immediately to prevent staining or damage to the film.
For stubborn stains, use isopropyl alcohol sparingly and avoid applying it in direct sunlight or on a hot surface.
AEON's advanced topcoat offers self-healing capabilities. Light scratches can be repaired with hot water or a heat gun applied to the affected area.
Note: Deep scratches that penetrate the topcoat cannot self-heal.
Automated car washes can cause surface scratches that may penetrate the topcoat. Hand washing is the safest method to maintain the film's integrity.
After rainfall or a wash, always dry the water beads off the film, especially in warm weather or direct sunlight, to avoid water spotting.
AEON PPF is made from thermal polyurethane (TPU), which has a melting point of 175°C (347°F). Avoid exposing the film to prolonged, extreme heat.
AEON PPF Maintenance FAQs
Use a ceramic-coating-friendly shampoo for hand washing. Rinseless washes are also safe.
Use a microfiber drying towel or chamois for gentle drying.
Avoid using traditional clay bars, as they can mar the finish and cause discoloration along the edges. Instead, use chemical decontaminants for road tar and iron oxide.
Use a high-quality sealant, to restore gloss and hydrophobic properties.
Polishing is generally unnecessary, but for severe issues like water spotting, consult a professional for solutions.
Only use ceramic-coating-friendly products designed for delicate finishes.
Do not use detergents containing waxes, sealants, or silicone.
Do not use abrasive pads, harsh chemicals, or products not tested for compatibility with AEON PPF.
